Enlargement of the port of Benalmádena, Malaga involved using the new 69,000 m2 sheltered water area to create 919 berths for vessels of between 8 and 80 m in length. The contract included a review of the construction design: breakwater (minimising projection on the seafront to interfere as little as possible with existing marine and sedimentary dynamics), planning of the new sheltered area in a single dock (achieving maximum water circulation to facilitate natural renovation), breakwater (of monolithic type to achieve minimum visual interference, reduce wave reflection in the outer face and overflows over the crest), as well as the creation of a service area, commercial zone, technical area, and others areas of varying natures.
