La Melusa logistics platform

SERS drew up the Plan of General Interest of Aragon (PIGA) for the La Melusa-Tamarite logistics platform, in the municipality of Tamarite de Litera (Huesca), conceived as a new intermodal logistics hub geared in particular to transporting agri-food products and connecting local production with the main transport corridors.

The PIGA covers a total area of approximately 1.65 million m², of which some 1.39 million m² correspond to the logistics subsector, complemented by a residential area of 21,040 m² and by the external connections and infrastructure needed to develop the scheme. The layout combines logistics, productive and tertiary uses, as well as roads, green areas, community facilities and land for infrastructure and services.

One of the main features of the scheme is its intermodal character, taking advantage of the nearby A-22 motorway, the old N-240 road and the Zaragoza-Barcelona railway line. The plan includes a specific rail interchange area linked to a freight terminal able to handle trains of up to 750 m in length, reinforcing the connection between the logistics area and the national and international rail corridors.

The work covered the planning of the area, the strategic environmental assessment, the urban development designs for the logistics and residential areas and the land reparcelling project, as well as the definition of the external connections and of the networks and infrastructure needed for the platform to operate. The PIGA was partially approved in 2024, with the urban development designs for both subsectors approved as directly enforceable.
