Detailed design

The new infrastructure will bring Extremadura into the Iberian and European high-speed network. This sub-section forms part of the Cáceres – Talayuela section and has been proposed as a mixed traffic line (passengers and goods) allowing a maximum speed of 300 km/h. The most important environmental conditioning factor was identified as being the “Dehesa de Encinas” listed habitat. Key structures included 4 overpasses of up to 39 m, 7 underpasses of up to 35 m with sections of up to 12 x 6 m and 13 drainage culverts of up to 4 x 2 m.
