Detailed design

This 17.20 km sub-section, which forms part of the Madrid – Oropesa section, was proposed as a mixed traffic line (passengers and goods) running parallel to the existing railway. There are several key structures: One 456 m viaduct over the River Guadarrama, 2 viaducts of up to 266 m over streams, a 105.00 m pergola and 160o slant over the railway, 40 m viaduct over CM-4011, 407 m cut-and-cover tunnel in Cerro de Mesa, 9 overpasses of up to 98.40 m and 10 underpasses of up to 56.69 m. The project also includes adaptation of the area of the Bargas and Villamiel stations. Given the significant environmental restrictions in the area, the project included a range of corrective measures.
