Review and adjustment of the detailed design of the Cd. Mante – Cd. Tula highway
The work involves reviewing and optimising the detailed design of the new highway between Ciudad Mante and Ciudad Tula, in the state of Tamaulipas (Mexico), an infrastructure intended to improve communications and road connectivity in the region.
The project is a new 106 km highway, designed to A2 road standards with a design speed of 110 km/h.
SERS focuses on the last 50 km of the route, which runs through particularly rugged mountainous terrain, with large cumulative height differences and a climb of around 1,000 metres in the first half of the section studied.
The study covers the geometric review of the horizontal alignment, vertical alignment and cross-section, the checking of earthworks quantities and the comparative analysis of different design solutions.
The optimisation mainly seeks to reduce excavation and embankment volumes, improve the earthworks balance and assess alternative solutions in the most complex sectors, including the possible use of viaducts instead of large embankments.
The work identifies opportunities for technical and economic improvement, favouring a construction solution adapted to the terrain and optimising earthworks and construction requirements.
