Proyecto de construcción para la carretera de Uruapan - Zamora en el Estado de Michoacán (México)

Detailed design for the Uruapan - Zamora highway in the State of Michoacán (Mexico)

The project involves the development of a new road infrastructure between Uruapan and Zamora de Hidalgo, in the state of Michoacán (Mexico), in order to improve territorial connectivity and road communications in the north-west of the state.

It comprises 53.1 km of new highway, from near state road MICH-16 to the Zamora area, as well as a western bypass of approximately 20 km to ease the connection with the Zamora–Ecuandureo road and the MEX 15D motorway. Altogether, more than 73 km of new road infrastructure are designed.

The work covers the geometric definition of the route, the junctions and connections with the existing road network, and the design of earthworks, pavements, structures, drainage, signage and road restraint systems. The initial documentation identifies 95 watercourses crossed by the route, which requires a specific hydrological and hydraulic study and the sizing of the corresponding drainage works. Bridges, viaducts and grade-separated crossings are also designed to resolve crossings with roads, tracks and other features of the territory.

The detailed design brings together the different engineering disciplines needed to define an infrastructure adapted to the terrain, ensure its functionality and favour its proper integration into the region’s transport network.
