The contract addresses a series of matters:

• Resolution of the high-risk points in Adif's inventory of cuttings and trenches. This involves the detailed inspection of problem areas, a technical diagnosis, a proposal of alternative solutions, their appraisal and the selection of the most suitable one, and the preparation of a detailed design to Adif's usual standards.
• Issue of specific technical reports arising from the resolution of a particular problem.
• Response to emergencies.

The contract covers Galicia and the Cantabrian coast, the northern plateau, the Ebro valley corridor between Zaragoza and the Basque Country, the two Madrid-Barcelona corridors from the point where the line enters Aragon, and the Catalan area. On the high-speed network it includes the Madrid-Barcelona-French border line from Aragon onwards and the high-speed line heading north from Segovia.
