SERS took part in drawing up the design for the full refurbishment of Avenida de Valencia, covering the whole route between Avenida de Goya and calle Corona de Aragón, including the connections with the side streets and part of Glorieta de los Zagríes and Paseo de Teruel. The scheme completely renews the urban space and its infrastructure, with the aim of improving accessibility, environmental and acoustic quality and the conditions of use of an avenue with a marked residential and retail character.

The proposal keeps the mobility role of the avenue but reorganises the available space to improve conditions for pedestrians and cyclists. Three traffic lanes are kept, including the one reserved for public transport, and the two-way cycle lane is moved to the southern pavement, 2.50 m wide and raised to pavement level to make it safer. The resulting cross section leaves approximately 3 m of pavement and 1 m of green strip on each side, within an avenue of around 20 m between façades.

One of the most significant features is turning calle Fueros de Aragón into a new pedestrian square, removing through traffic and diverting the bus lane so that it continues as far as Avenida Goya. The new space includes places to sit, café terraces and a children's play area, to reinforce neighbourhood and retail activity. Green strips with shrub planting, new trees and places to spend time are also introduced along the avenue, preserving the existing trees as far as possible and using solutions aimed at reducing the heat island effect and water consumption.

The design also covers the complete renewal of the municipal networks and the coordination with the many services running beneath the avenue. For sewerage, the sewers are to be replaced and renewed, including a new 1.50 m diameter reinforced concrete sewer and secondary PVC networks. For water supply, two existing main pipes are to be replaced by a new 1,000 mm diameter ductile iron pipe, in addition to the renewal of the local networks.

The scheme is completed with the renewal of lighting, traffic signals, irrigation, paving, signing, street furniture and green infrastructure, creating a more accessible public space with a greater presence of vegetation.
