Safety review and documentation analysis of concession-holders' dams and ponds in inter-regional river basins. Lot 1

As part of a joint venture, SERS took part in the technical assistance services to the Directorate-General for Water for the safety review and documentation analysis of concession-holders' dams and ponds within the Miño-Sil river basin authority. The work provided specialist support to the authority in exercising its functions of controlling and monitoring the safety of these hydraulic structures.

The work covered the collection and review of the technical and administrative information on 81 dams corresponding to 78 reservoirs, including the organisation and updating of the information required for the inventory and the Dam and Reservoir Safety Register. On a selection of these structures, 46 technical inspections were carried out on site, accompanied by the corresponding graphic documentation, and 46 condition reports and proposals for safety measures were prepared.

The contract also included extensive work reviewing the dams' safety documentation, covering proposals for classification according to potential risk, operating rules, emergency plans, documentation for their implementation and safety reviews. In addition, 124 annual monitoring, behaviour and surveillance reports were analysed, assessing their compliance with the regulations and drawing the corresponding technical conclusions.

The work was completed with technical support in the administrative procedures associated with dam and reservoir safety. The contract ran over the 2021-2023 period and was adapted during its execution to the entry into force of the new technical safety standards for dams and reservoirs.
