SIAGES
PRE-COMMERCIAL PUBLIC PROCUREMENT FOR THE DEVELOPMENT OF SOLUTIONS IN THE FIELD OF IT DECISION SUPPORT SYSTEMS FOR WATER MANAGEMENT.
SIAGES is an innovative Integrated Real-Time Decision Support System, the first of its kind, based on the incorporation and processing of all the information relevant to the integrated management of water resources, through simulation and optimisation tools built on robust, widely proven tools, combined with new ones created for this project, as well as Artificial Intelligence elements.
The contract was awarded by the Directorate-General of the Centre for the Development of Industrial Technology (CDTI) in July 2021 to the joint venture formed by AQUATEC, SERS and FULCRUM, with the participation of the Universitat Politècnica de València through its Research Institute of Water and Environmental Engineering (IIAMA). The contract is currently in phase III, which is scheduled to end in March 2023.
The technological solutions are developed along several lines or systems that work together in a fully automated way.
Work is carried out on a daily scale, with short-term (15 days) and seasonal (7 months) forecast horizons.
In summary, it includes the following:
a) Bias-corrected, regionalised weather forecasts for the study areas, including forecasts of the evolution of drought indices.
b) Distributed hydrological simulations and forecasts based on the weather forecasts, and simulation of aquifer behaviour.
c) Monitoring of existing crops and forecasting of irrigation needs and agricultural production.
d) Analysis of management alternatives, taking into account the quantity and quality of water resources.
e) Economic, CO2 emission and environmental analyses and forecasts arising from these alternatives.
All of this is integrated into a single comprehensive platform for the efficient and sustainable management of a complex, unique water resource system.
The prototype is being tested in the Segura River Basin, which covers most of the Region of Murcia and parts of the Valencian Community, Castilla-La Mancha and Andalusia.
