Proyecto Variante de Loja-Riofrío

Loja-Riofrío bypass project

The detailed design for the platform of the Antequera–Granada high-speed line, section Loja bypass–Riofrío, forms part of the new Loja bypass, a scheme intended to complete the high-speed corridor with an alignment offering better performance than the one currently used through the town. The section covered is approximately 3.2 km long and gives continuity to the adjoining sections of the bypass.

The infrastructure is designed for electrified double track to international UIC gauge, intended for passenger traffic and with a maximum design speed of 230 km/h. One of the most relevant items is the construction of the platform for the future Loja station, including the track apron, the platform area and the structures needed to allow it to be developed later under a specific station project.

The planned works include two overpasses, an underpass between platforms, a services gallery and a 7 × 5.70 m wildlife crossing, along with eight transverse drainage culverts and various retaining walls associated with the platform and the station area. The design also incorporates the drainage, reinstatement of tracks and roads and environmental integration works required to build the new infrastructure.
