Alternatives study for a new highway from Uruapan to Zamora (Michoacán)
The work involves verifying the technical feasibility and optimising a route alternative for the new highway between Uruapan and Zamora de Hidalgo, in the state of Michoacán (Mexico), intended to improve road communications and connectivity between both cities and with the regional road network.
The alternative studied comprised 126.4 km of new infrastructure in three main sections: a 30.8 km southern Uruapan bypass, a 75.6 km central corridor and a 20 km western Zamora bypass, with planned connections to the main existing roads.
The preliminary documentation included 20 bridges, with a combined length of approximately 4.7 km, as well as 28 overpasses and underpasses and five junctions, whose characteristics had to be checked and optimised.
SERS’s work covers the geometric review of the route, the analysis of earthworks, the checking of pavements, the hydrological and hydraulic study of the drainage works and the review of bridges, structures and road connections.
The study also includes the verification of quantities, the analysis of improvement alternatives and the optimisation of the proposed solutions, in order to enhance the functionality of the infrastructure, improve its fit with the territory and optimise its technical and economic conditions.
